Girly Gingham

With hot weather fast approaching I thought I'd take a minute to right about my favorite trend for the spring summer season. Last seen in 2009, the fabric that defines picnic season itself is back. Both girly and cool, gingham has that certain air about it that screams summertime. Spotted at spring fashion shows like D&G, Chanel, and DVF the trend is gaining momentum supported by celebrities and shoppers alike.

Queen B

Queen B

So I've put together a collection of photos of one of my favorite style icons, Blair Waldorf. A classic upper east sider her fashion is both preppy and fierce. Although I almost always love what she wears I put together my top favorite outfits from the past four seasons of Gossip Girl. Enjoy.

On Stranger Tides

Johnny Depp, mermaids, and mystery, need I say more to encourage you all to go see the new Pirates movie? May I be the first to say how skeptical I was about this movie, well I was wrong. This was actually my favorite Pirates movie of the series. Now, I don't know if it's my obsession with Johnny Depp, Mermaids, or Pirate hair that has lead me to this conclusion, but frankly I don't care I'm still giving this movie my stamp of approval. So I need to go on a rant here for a minute about this movie because seriously those mermaids were amazing. Finally a movie that actually paints the picture I have in my head of a mermaid. In the past we have seen mermaids in two traditional extremes. For example, Ariel in the Little Mermaid or Sara Paxton in Aquamarine are the traditionally beautiful, curious, yet loving mermaids, or we have mermaids like the ones in Harry Potter ie the scary, evil mermaid that is trying to drown you. This is why my favorite type of mermaid is the one in Pirates. They were beautiful, deceptive, and yes trying to drown you. What really shocked me was how they kept there beauty even when they were trying to attack and kill with an almost vampire like snare. The tails were beautifully done, and the girls were tastefully covered throughout the course of the movie. I can only hope for a 5th, yes 5th movie to continue the intriguing saga, preferably with mermaids, Johnny Depp, and the adorable new addition to the cast, Sam Clafin.

En Route

This past January I had the amazing oppurtunity to go to Paris! While there my favortie place to visit was Versaille, the palace to the one, the only, Marie Antoinette. All the romantic florals, curvy architecture, and over the top excess was so inspiring. So when it was time to create a garment for my school's fashion show the first thing that came to mind...Versaille. With its romantic floral pattern, curvy frilly lace, and excessive Marie Antoinette inspired circle skirt, I was really excited to have my dress featured in our school's fashion show this year. Pictured below is my dress from my school's fashion show, En Route. Hope you all enjoy, please leave comments :)

Monster Madness

Hello my little monsters. Put your paws up for Lady Gaga and her spectacular performance on the American Idol finale last night. Debuting her new song, The Edge of Glory, Gaga gave interesting perspective, like always, on this new song. My only critique on the interpretation was the slightly creepy man that pops out at the end and proceeds to grab and grope Gaga. The sudden appearance sent me into a Dora inspired rant as I yelled creeper no creeping at the tv. Gaga's first outfit, the Egyptian style head dress, was decked out in rhinestones and beads, which she later takes off and transforms into a wild warrior. Not her most original outfit, I myself am still waiting for this girl to put some pants on, however I did like the warrior wear, with the exception of the Madonna style cross. The song ended in a puff of smoke as she fell off the cliff into the abyss. With her amazing song writing skills, and her theatrical performances Gaga is epic, however I would like to see her head away from her Madonna impersonation and find her own sense of fashion.

16 and Famous

For a company like Louis Vuitton supermodels like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell are familiar faces. For the fall 2011 ad campaigns however, the company takes a daring move by hiring fresh faces including, 16-year-old Zuzanna Bijoch, 15-year-old Daphne Groeneveld, 20-year-old Gertrud Hegelund, 16-year-old Nyasha Matonhodze, 20-year-old Anais Pouliot, and Fei Fei Sun. With such an established label it's nice to see that the company is taking a risk and creating new top models. The campaign was photographed by Steven Meisel, styled by Karl Templer, makeup by Pat McGrath, and hair by Guido Palau. The ads themselves were amazingly done with understated elegance throughout the story of the ad. The girls are featured in a vintage style car looking quite demure in the 1930s style clothing. Overall I think the choice was excellent, it's nice to see new faces, new clothes, and of course a new ad.

Striped Star

Just finished watching the season finale of glee and I gotta say I was slightly disappointed in the ending...What I wasn't disappointed in was the fashion. Rachel Berry one of my current favorite fashion icons looked adorable as always, in this sweet striped coat with its preppy yet 60's reminiscent feel, it has a true Rachel Berry sense about it. The outfit as a whole, although fairly simple besides the eccentric coat, was styled perfectly from her whimsical white beret to her retro red tights. This has definitely been one of my favorite Gleek Fashion moments, I'm already excited for next season!
